Frequently Asked Questions

What is the meaning behind the Firefly?

The firefly is a creature of light. It symbolizes illumination, even on the darkest night. Fireflies use their glow to attract what they want and remind us to let our light attract the things we desire in life. At Firefly Therapy Group, we believe everyone is a light in this world. We want to help you shine as bright as you are able.

Does Firefly Therapy Group accept insurance? How about an HSA?

We do not accept insurance, however, we can provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. If you have questions about how the superbill works, please feel free to reach out.

We do happily accept HSA/FSA!

What is your pricing structure?

Below is an overview of the pricing structure at Firefly Therapy Group.

Grace:

  • Individual Therapy: $165 per 50-minute session

  • Couples Therapy: $185 per 50-minute session

Lauri:

  • Individual Therapy: $160 per 50-minute session

  • Couples Therapy: $170 per 50-minute session

Do you conduct sessions via Telehealth?

Yes, and we love it! (And so do our clients!) While the Covid-19 pandemic prompted the switch to virtual therapy, we have found that providing this method of therapy (either phone or video chat) offers a level of convenience that is beneficial for all while maintaining the same level of effectiveness as in-person. There is something to be said about having therapy surrounded by the comforts of your own home!

Are you offering in person sessions?

We are! Please let us know if you prefer the in-person option. We are also able to offer a “hybrid” model, some sessions in person, some via telehealth.

What is the No Surprise Billing Act?

Effective January 1, 2022, the No Surprises Act, which Congress passed as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021, is designed to protect patients from surprise bills for emergency services at out-of-network facilities or for out-of-network providers at in-network facilities, holding them liable only for in-network cost-sharing amounts. The No Surprises Act also enables uninsured patients to receive a good faith estimate of the cost of care.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.

Under the law, healthcare providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment and hospital fees.

  • You have the right to ask your healthcare provider to give you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

  • You have the right to save a copy of your Good Faith Estimate

I’m nervous to start therapy. What do you recommend?

The feeling of nervousness is natural when starting therapy! Finding the right therapist is key to ensuring effective communication, and that you and your therapist are a good match.  Make sure to call around and talk to a few therapists to find someone you resonate with.

With the right therapist, the nervous feeling will soon dissipate. We may provide gentle ideas or direction, but we will follow your lead on the speed and comfort level of therapy as it progresses (especially at the beginning as we are getting to know each other.)

How effective is therapy?

We may be biased - but we believe therapy has the ability to be life-changing. When you connect with the right therapist for you, in a season of your life when you are ready to do the work necessary for change, transformation can happen in remarkable ways. There are studies suggesting that the therapeutic relationship alone can be attributed to a great deal of change, as well as significant results found from EMDR and attachment based therapy. As with many things in life, your level of readiness and willingness to dive in will play a huge role— the more you put in, the more you’ll get out.

How often are sessions?

We encourage all new clients to begin therapy with weekly sessions. This allows us to get to know you and to gain meaningful traction right away. While this is our preferred method, ultimately the decision is yours based on what works in your life. Later on in the therapeutic process, it is common to reduce frequency down to every other week or even a “maintenance mode” of monthly sessions or occasional “check ins.”

I’m ready to start therapy. How do I begin?

Submit an inquiry form on this website or call us directly! After you express interest in working with Firefly Therapy Group, we will connect for a brief intake call. During this call, we will learn more about what you are looking for, allow you to ask any questions, and see if we are a good match! From there you and your therapist will agree upon location (in person or telehealth) and the date and time for your first session.

From the bottom of our hearts, we are so thankful for the opportunity to take this journey with you.
